Two of BICC's mission objectives are:
- to facilitate the performance of original research in Chinese studies
- to initiate a broad range of dissemination and outreach activities particularly, but not exclusively, in the UK
To achieve these, BICC devotes a large sum of money each year both to developing its own research projects, seminar series, and outreach programmes, and to collaborating with other organizations on valuable and exciting projects, facilitating a huge spectrum of events designed to appeal to a wide variety of audiences, from schoolchildren to business and government, as well as traditional academic communities.
You can find full details of BICC's work with the non-academic community
here.
As well as smaller research projects and series of events, BICC both organises and supports a range of larger, national and international conferences.
Much of BICC's research and language agenda was set by the panels at its Launch Conference, held on June 27-29 2007 in London and Oxford. Please follow the link for details of the panels along with session notes.
In addition to these events, BICC is involved in a number of knowledge transfer initiatives, working amongst others with government departments to bring its expertise to bear in a practical way.
